Seven Locks Land
Promoting community friendly use
Montgomery County has proposed three new uses for their land at the northern end of Seven Locks Road:
1. A new, rebuilt Detention Center and Central Processing Unit (the current facility is deteriorating)
2. A new “Restoration Center” based on the National “Crisis Now” model
3. A new Montgomery County Schools and Public Transit Bus Depot for 260+ buses with a Maintenance Facility, Gas Station, and Bus Wash (moved from Shady Grove)
The Seven Locks Alliance believes this land should be designated for community beneficial use. The Detention Center was placed in this location before the many residential neighborhoods were built around it. It is now a thriving residential area with many new developments in the works and popular commercial growth in Park Potomac. To encourage the continued growth and development of this area, the industrial use of this land for a Bus Depot and Correctional Facility is no longer in keeping with the area and could significantly hamper the surrounding community.
